NDTV Journalist Kamal Khan passes away

Kamal Khan was NDTV’s executive editor who was also a recipient of the Ramnath Goenka Award and the Ganesh Shanker Vidyarthi Award from the President of India.

Budget session 2022

The Budget Session of Parliament will start on January 31.

The Union Budget will be presented on February 1.

The session will start with the address of President Ram Nath Kovind. 

The Budget Session of Parliament 2022 will be held in two parts and the budget will conclude on April 8.

knighthood Award

The former Captain of the West Indies Cricket teamClive Lloyd has been given the honor of knighthood for his services to the game of Cricket.

achievements

West Indies cricket was the winning of the inaugural Cricket World Cup tournament in 1975. 

It was under Lloyd’s Captaincy that West Indies lifted the trophy against Australia.

Clive was also the first West Indian player to earn 100 international caps. 

Clive captained the West Indies cricket team in three World Cups, winning in 1975 and 1979 while losing in the 1983 Final to India under Kapil Dev’s leadership.

Under the Captaincy of Clive Lloyd, West Indies was the most successful team in the world. It had a run of 27 Test Matches without defeat- which included 11 wins in a row.

He played in 110 Tests and 87 One-Day Internationals and is considered one of the most successful Captains of all time.

Clive Lloyd in 2009 was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.

Chancellor of the Exchequer 

Indian-origin British Politician Rishi Sunak was appointed as the Chancellor of the Exchequer by British PM Boris Johnson. The post is the second most important position in the British Government.

She has been selected as a changemaker and is now India’s Batonbearer at the ongoing 16th official Queen’s Baton Relay, which started at the Buckingham Palace in London on October 7, 2021.

New Chairman of ISRO

K Sivan is the new ISRO Chairman. Kailasavadivoo Sivan completed his extended tenure on January 7, 2022. 

S Somanath is currently serving as the Director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC). 

Passport Ranking

The Indian passport now ranks at 83rd, 

Rank climbing seven places from 90th rank last year. In 2022.

India’s passport shares the ranking with Sao Tome and Principe in Central Africa, behind Uganda and Rwanda.
